Directions
The Richmond Club is on the A49 in the centre of Hereford opposite and slightly south of the football ground. If you see brown signs for the Courtyard theatre and arts centre, then that is on the same road but slightly north of the Richmond Club. The Club is a converted large Victorian Red Brick house that is slightly set back from the road, and the sign on the front of it can be obscured by traffic/a wall unless you're right in front of it!
From Leominster and the North
Drive south on the A49 following the signs for Ross on Wye. You will drive past an area of retail parks with B&Q, Halfords, etc on your left and go left at a small mini roundabout. Continue with PC World and Currys and Pizza Hut on your left. At the 'Pizza Hut Roundabout' turn right (signed Ross A49 still), and you are now on Edgar Street, which is partly dual carriageway. Continue and you will see the very modern concrete and glass Courtyard Arts Centre & Theatre on your right and the football ground opposite. Immediately after the football ground get into the righthand filter lane and turn into Canonmoor Street on your right (just by the strange round building which is the Salvation Army Citadel) and the Richmond Club carpark is immediately on your left. If the carpark is full, try the street, or retrace your route and turn in front of the football ground where there is a big carpark.
If you get to the big roundabout at the end of the dual carriageway known as 'Steels Roundabout' because of the big Steels Car Dealership on it, you have gone too far and will need to go all the way around it and then take the first left into Canonmoor Street.
From Ross-on-Wye and the South
Drive up the A49 following signs for Hereford and Leominster. When you cross the River Wye (just by the huge turquoise Asda superstore) you need to keep in the left hand lane, but keep going straight on. You will get to a huge roundabout with the large Steels Car Dealership on your left. Keep in the left hand lane, but do NOT turn left, but follow the A49 sign marked in the road and the signs to Leominster which will be the 2nd exit (virtually straight ahead) off the roundabout. This is a dual carriageway and you need to be in the left lane, as once you are past the roundabout you need to take the first left turning into Canonmoor Street, just in front of the strange round building which is the Salvation Army Citadel. Then turn immediately left into the Richmond Club Carpark. If it is full, try the street or go back to the main road, turn left and then immediately right (filter lane in middle of road) and go into the football ground carpark. If you get to the Courtyard Theatre and Arts Centre you've gone too far, but there's a roundabout just up the road you can go all the way around and come back for a second shot!
From Brecon/Hay and West
Follow the A438 into Hereford. It will bring you into town past Bulmers Cider Plant on your left and the Cider Museum & Sainsbury's on your Right, and then down to a huge roundabout with the large Steels Car Dealership on your immediate left. Keep in the left hand lane, and follow the A49 sign marked in the road and the signs to Leominster which will be the 1st exit off the roundabout.
From Abergavenny & South West
Follow the A465 to Hereford. It will bring you into town past the large Tesco store on your left and then down to a roundabout (about a mile) by the huge turquoise Asda superstore on your left. Stay in the left lane and take the exit leading over the River Wye, following A49 Leominster signs. It's the first 'proper' exit, but after the exit into the superstore. Then follow the directions given for travellers from Ross and the south above.
From Worcester and East
Follow A4103 to Hereford. There are a number of different routes, but probably the easiest is to continue along this road until you pass the huge Wiggins Steel works on your left and then get to a roundabout with 'The Starting Gate' pub directly opposite you. This roundabout is where the A4103 meets the A49, and you turn left to follow the A49 past the retail stores such as B&Q, Halfords, etc and then follow directions as from Leominster & North above.
From Bromyard & North East
Follow A465 to Hereford and when it joins the A4103 from Worcester, turn right and then follow the instructions as from Worcester above.
From Ledbury and South East
Follow A438 to Hereford and continue through the town following signs for Ross-on-Wye. You will eventually come to an enormous complicated roundabout controlled by traffic lights which is known as 'Steels Roundabout' because of the big Steels Car Dealership on the opposite side of it. At this point try and be in the MIDDLE lane. You want to take the 2nd exit which will be signposted A49 Leominster and north. You go past the first exit which is a peculiar double exit, and around to the traffic lights actually ON the roundabout itself where you want to be in the LEFT lane, and then take the next exit onto the dual carriageway that is Edgar Street (A49) and be ready to take the first left off that, just in front of the strange round building that is the Salvation Army Citadel.

Hereford Jive & Swing was founded in December 2009 by a group of local dancers (not teachers) frustrated at the lack of local dances. During 2010 we organised a series of dances in Hereford, mainly 'record hops' but some bands also. In January 2011 Susan took over the solo running and organisation of the group and, after a year of several sell-out band nights alongside regular 'record hops', 2012 sees an expanded programme (see below). The Group is non-profitmaking with any proceeds going to cover investment in equipment and music, and to subsidise an increasing programme of live bands. The more support the dances get, the more we can organise - so come along and have some fun! And please give feedback!
Dancers of all styles are welcome, as are non-dancing partners who want to listen and watch. If you're a beginner or rusty, the dances are a great place to gain confidence and practise moves - especially the 'record hops' which are more relaxed than 'band nights'. If you have no partner, don't worry - we're a friendly lot and there are plenty of 'singles', so you won't be left out.
