Hereford Jive & Swing was founded in December 2009 by a group of local dancers (not teachers) frustrated at the lack of local dances. During 2010 we organised a series of dances in Hereford, mainly 'record hops' but some bands also. In January 2011 Susan took over the solo running and organisation of the group and, after a year of several sell-out band nights alongside regular 'record hops', 2012 sees an expanded programme (see below). The Group is non-profitmaking with any proceeds going to cover investment in equipment and music, and to subsidise an increasing programme of live bands. The more support the dances get, the more we can organise - so come along and have some fun! And please give feedback!

Dancers of all styles are welcome, as are non-dancing partners who want to listen and watch. If you're a beginner or rusty, the dances are a great place to gain confidence and practise moves - especially the 'record hops' which are more relaxed than 'band nights'. If you have no partner, don't worry - we're a friendly lot and there are plenty of 'singles', so you won't be left out.

Xmas Party Tonight is going ahead

Just to confirm (in view of the phone calls I've had!), the Xmas Party tonight is definitely on. So, if you can get there safely, we look forward to having a great night ... if you can't, hope to see you in the New Year, when we've lots planned. Watch this space!

Xmas Party - 19 December

Come and celebrate (and get warm!) at our Xmas Party, and mark the end of our first year of dances, on Sunday, 19 December. On this occasion Matt Heenan of Coolmoves Dance in Hereford will be providing the music - he's got a great mix of rock 'n roll, jive, swing, boogie-woogie, etc (classic and modern) for any jive and swing dancers out there (jive, lindy, balboa, etc), and as usual there's no need to worry if you're just a beginner or on your own ... you won't get left out. It's at the Richmond Club - details to the left column - runs from 7.00 to 11.00 pm, and costs just £4.00 on the door. Xmas themed dress optional (e.g. red 'n white, tinsel, etc!).
