Hereford Jive & Swing was founded in December 2009 by a group of local dancers (not teachers) frustrated at the lack of local dances. During 2010 we organised a series of dances in Hereford, mainly 'record hops' but some bands also. In January 2011 Susan took over the solo running and organisation of the group and, after a year of several sell-out band nights alongside regular 'record hops', 2012 sees an expanded programme (see below). The Group is non-profitmaking with any proceeds going to cover investment in equipment and music, and to subsidise an increasing programme of live bands. The more support the dances get, the more we can organise - so come along and have some fun! And please give feedback!

Dancers of all styles are welcome, as are non-dancing partners who want to listen and watch. If you're a beginner or rusty, the dances are a great place to gain confidence and practise moves - especially the 'record hops' which are more relaxed than 'band nights'. If you have no partner, don't worry - we're a friendly lot and there are plenty of 'singles', so you won't be left out.

5 February - Fast Eddie and The Jive Machine

Time is getting short to buy tickets for our next dance with top rock 'n roll band 'Fast Eddie & The Jive Machine'. They play great 'authentic' 1950s classic and unusual tracks, create a great atmosphere and are fantastic to dance to, but non-dancers are also welcome to come and listen. See www.myspace.com/fasteddiejive for more on the band.
The dance is at The Richmond Club, Edgar St, Hereford (see tab above for full directions), and runs 7.30-11.00 pm with the band onstage around 8.00 pm. As usual, tickets are just £8 in advance or £10 on the door, email herefordjive@btinternet.com or ring Susan 01432 357859 to book.
