Hereford Jive & Swing was founded in December 2009 by a group of local dancers (not teachers) frustrated at the lack of local dances. During 2010 we organised a series of dances in Hereford, mainly 'record hops' but some bands also. In January 2011 Susan took over the solo running and organisation of the group and, after a year of several sell-out band nights alongside regular 'record hops', 2012 sees an expanded programme (see below). The Group is non-profitmaking with any proceeds going to cover investment in equipment and music, and to subsidise an increasing programme of live bands. The more support the dances get, the more we can organise - so come along and have some fun! And please give feedback!

Dancers of all styles are welcome, as are non-dancing partners who want to listen and watch. If you're a beginner or rusty, the dances are a great place to gain confidence and practise moves - especially the 'record hops' which are more relaxed than 'band nights'. If you have no partner, don't worry - we're a friendly lot and there are plenty of 'singles', so you won't be left out.

Next Dance Nights - 6 June & 4 July

Just a reminder that our next DJ Dance night at the Richmond Club (details to the left) is next Sunday, 6 June. As usual it'll run 7-11.00, cost £4.00 on the door and Steve 'Chalky' White will provide a great selection of dance music for us. Hope to see you there, as it's always been a great night so far!

Also to remind you that our next live band night is with 'Steady Ed & the Boogie Men' on Sunday, 4 July. Again this should be a fantastic night with a great mix of boogie-woogie, rock & roll and jive music ... they're a really good band to dance to and make a good atmosphere. The dance is at the Richmond Club as usual and starts at 7.30 pm (band onstage at 8.00 pm), finishing at 11.00 pm. Tickets can be bought in advance for £6.00 or cost £7.50 on the door. Contact the numbers/email at the top of the page or additionally see Matt/Sarah or Susan at the Bartestree or Luston Jive Classes. And of course they'll be on sale on the 6 June dance night. Numbers will be limited, so if you want to go, let us know!
