Tickets are still available for tomorrow's dance with 'Steady Edd & The Boogie Men' (expanded line-up including brass section) tomorrow night in Leominster. If you want to book them at the 'pre-booked' rate of £8, ring me (01432 357859) by 5.00pm tomorrow and leave your name and number of tickets required on my answermachine and I'll leave them on the door for you. Otherwise they'll be available for sale at £10 on the door. It should be a good night with lots of great music to dance to. Hope to see you there!

Steady Edd & The Boogie Men - Leominster, 14th December

There's just one week to go to get your tickets for our last dance of this year. The fabulous 'Steady Edd & The Boogie Men' will be playing at The Royal British Legion Club, Leominster on Friday, 14 December - venue details on separate tab above. The band have played several near capacity dances for us in Hereford, and are bringing their 'expanded line-up' to Leominster, with an extra brass section of 2 sax and a trumpet to give more 'oomph and bite' (to quote Edd). They're always great to dance to and create a great atmosphere playing a real mix of music, from boogie-woogie, swing, rock 'n roll, r&b, jazz, etc ... all geared to dancing. The Jiveoholics, Sunday 18 November, Hereford

Don't leave it too late to get your tickets to see the fabulous 'Jiveoholics' who play our next dance on Sunday, 18 November at The Richmond Club, Hereford (see separate tab for venue details). The Monmouth based band bill themselves as the hottest jump jive and swing dance in Wales, and their packed dances show this to be true - they sold out for us in Hereford last year - so make sure you get your ticket in time. Dance this Sunday, 10 June

Don't forget our next 'record hop' dance night this Sunday. It's at the Richmond Club in Hereford as usual, and is a friendly relaxed place to dance, practice your moves, meet people and have fun. Great music from 7.30-11.00 pm and only £4 on the door. Tickets will also be available for our next band night on 8 July with 'Steady Edd & The Boogie Men'.

There's a good crowd booked to come along tomorrow night, but there will still be tickets available on the door - so you can risk just turning up if you want to. If you pre-book by ringing me before 5pm tomorrow on 01432 357859 I will put them on the door for you at £8.00 each, thereafter they will be unreserved tickets for sale on the door at £10 each. It's a big venue with a huge dance floor, so lots of space for everyone, and I'm looking forward to some great dancing. See you there!

The Jiveoholics, Leominster, 25 May

Don't leave it too late to get your tickets for our next band night with the fantastic 'Jiveoholics' on Friday, 25 May. Describing themselves as 'the hottest jump jive band in Wales' they regularly pack dance halls around the country, and played 3 fantastic gigs for us in Hereford over the last couple of years. The Leominster venue is even bigger, so hopefully they'll prove just as popular and we'll have a packed dance floor once more. Sunday, 13 May - Record Hop, Hereford

Rockin' The Joint are one of the top bands on the UK Rock 'n Roll circuit and are fantastic to jive to. They will be playing for us next Sunday, 15 April and tickets are still available at £8 in advance of £10 on the door at the moment. The Sultana Brothers in Leominster

Our first dance at our new (additional) venue in Leominster will be on Friday, 16 March with popular local band 'The Sultana Brothers'. They sold out for the last gig they did for us in Hereford, and hopefully the same will happen in Leominster ... it would be a great way to kick off our new series of Friday night Leominster dances if it did! The band create a great party atmosphere with a great mix of '50s, '60s, r&b, blues, rock, etc and if you go to www.myspace.com/thesultanabrothers you will hear a sample of their music... but note that they have a wide repertoire and not all the stuff on the website is suitable for our requirements. They will be playing as set for jive and swing dancing.

The new venue is The Royal British Legion Club in Leominster - full venue details are on the venue page above. It's a big place with a great floor, and will hopefully prove popular. Numbers will be limited to allow space for dancing, so make sure you get your ticket in advance or check availability before travelling. £8 in advance or £10 on the door, if any are left. 'Record Hop' - 4 March in Hereford

There will be usual 4 hours of great and varied music at our record hop on Sunday, 4 March at The Richmond Club, Hereford. Come along between 7.30-11.00 pm and enjoy the relaxed informal atmosphere.

5 February - Fast Eddie and The Jive Machine

Time is getting short to buy tickets for our next dance with top rock 'n roll band 'Fast Eddie & The Jive Machine'. They play great 'authentic' 1950s classic and unusual tracks, create a great atmosphere and are fantastic to dance to, but non-dancers are also welcome to come and listen. New Year happenings!

What a great night last week with The Heartbeats ... fantastic crowd, dancing and atmosphere. Thanks to everyone who turned up, and hopefully will continue to come in 2012, when some changes are afoot!
Dances will continue on Sundays at The Richmond Club in Hereford. Again we have a mix of record hops and bands (more bands this year - some of our favourites, and some new ones). In addition we are going to be running 4 dances in Leominster on Friday nights, to see how they work out. All these will be band nights and will be at The Royal British Legion Clubhouse, which is 30% bigger than The Richmond Club, with a fantastic dance floor, bar and lots of parking. Hopefully there'll be lots of support and we can fill the place! Details of venues and gigs are on the menu at the top of screen ... and a new, clearer website is on it's way - subject to my computer not breaking down again!!

Tickets still available for The Heartbeats

There's a good crowd going to this dance on 18 December, but at the moment we do still have tickets left ... though I've sold a lot yesterday and today, and it's just been in the local papers, so no guarantee this will be the case by the weekend! So if you want to guarantee you ticket, ring me on 01432 357859 (Susan) to reserve tickets on the door. My computer access is limited at the minute, so phoning me is better than email. It should be a good night - they're a great band to dance to, or just come and listen and watch the action. Full details of times and venue, etc are in the post immediately below this.

The Heartbeats - Sunday, 18 December

Our next dance is with one of the top UK Rock 'n Roll bands 'The Heartbeats', who hail from Bristol. They're great to dance to and there's always a great atmosphere at their gigs. The music is predominantly 1950s rock 'n roll, and you can hear samples at www.the-hearbeats.co.uk.
As usual, the gig is at The Richmond Club, Hereford (see left column for map/directions), and runs from 7.30-11.00 pm - with the band being on stage around 8.00 pm. Tickets are £8.00 in advance or £10.00 on the door (but check availability before travelling, as numbers are limited). Sunday, 6 November is our next dance

Thanks to everyone who turned up on 9 October to make our dance a night to remember ... lots of positive comments about the new band line-up, so we'll certainly be getting The Jiveoholics back next year.
Our next dance, a 'record hop', will be on Sunday, 6 November at The Richmond Club, Hereford 7.30-11.00, £4.00 on the door ... so come along and enjoy some great music to jive, lindy or balboa to. Let me know any track requests, and I'll see what I can do. It's a lovely relaxed atmosphere and a good place to get to know people.

If you want to come along to the hottest jive & swing band around, there are still tickets available. Booking in advance is cheaper, at ONLY £6.00 ... what a bargain! But there will be some available on the door at £8.00. We've sold loads, so there will be a good crowd there, and jivers, lindy hoppers and balboa dancers are all well represented in the sales. The Jiveoholics - Sunday, 9 October 2011

Tickets are now on sale for this gig with the popular Monmouth-based 'Jiveoholics'. Back by popular demand after a sell-out gig last year, they bill themselves as Wales' hottest jump-jive and swing band. See www.jiveoholics.co.uk for sample tunes. They have a new lead singer since last year ... but their quality is undiminished! Should be a great party atmosphere, and the band name says it all really ... though there'll be plenty for all styles of swing dancing.

4 Sept - Jive Taster Lesson & Dance

Our next dance evening will include a Jive Taster Lesson with Matt & Sarah from Coolmoves Dance. If you've thought about doing jive, but not been sure it's for you, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a go. You can come to the lesson from 7.15-8.00 pm and then stay on for the dance and try out your moves and be inspired by watching the more experienced dancers. Don't worry if you've no partner, there'll be plenty of people to dance with. There'll be information about classes around Herefordshire/South Shropshire and elsewhere available, and a few teachers around, so you can meet and chat to them and see whether it's something you fancy pursuing.

Our regular 'record hop' dance will start at 8.00 pm and run until 11.00 pm, with a wide range of classic and modern tunes as usual. If you're an experienced jiver, just come along to the dance if you want, or join in the lesson to help the novices.

The whole evening is just £4.00 on the door and you can come for just part of it or all of it. It promises to be a lot of fun, and hopefully our usual friendly atmosphere will encourage lots of people to come and give it a try.

The Sultana Brothers - Sunday, 17 July

Our next dance will be with fantastic local band 'The Sultana Brothers' on 17 July. They'll be fresh from their supporting gig with Shaking Stevens at the Ludlow festival the week before, and have a big local following. The band play great dance music inspired by r&b, swing, blues, rock 'n roll, boogie woogie and have a wide repertoire. For us, they will be playing sets specifically for jive & swing dancing and jive, lindy, shag and balboa dancers should be well catered for! (Other dancers or those wishing to just listen to the band are welcome).
