Xmas Party Tonight is going ahead

Just to confirm (in view of the phone calls I've had!), the Xmas Party tonight is definitely on. So, if you can get there safely, we look forward to having a great night ... if you can't, hope to see you in the New Year, when we've lots planned. Watch this space!

Xmas Party - 19 December

Come and celebrate (and get warm!) at our Xmas Party, and mark the end of our first year of dances, on Sunday, 19 December. On this occasion Matt Heenan of Coolmoves Dance in Hereford will be providing the music - he's got a great mix of rock 'n roll, jive, swing, boogie-woogie, etc (classic and modern) for any jive and swing dancers out there (jive, lindy, balboa, etc), and as usual there's no need to worry if you're just a beginner or on your own ... you won't get left out. It's at the Richmond Club - details to the left column - runs from 7.00 to 11.00 pm, and costs just £4.00 on the door. Xmas themed dress optional (e.g. red 'n white, tinsel, etc!). A few tickets left for JB Jazz & Blues!

We've sold tons of tickets for JB Jazz & Blues tonight, but there will be just a few available on the door at £10.00 each. Numbers are limited though ... we don't want the dance floor too packed for comfort, so turn up early! It should be a great night, with great music and lots of great dancing!

The J B Jazz & Blues Band - 7 November 2010

Our next 'live band' night is with the fantastic JB Jazz & Blues on Sunday, 7 November. As usual it's at The Richmond Club, Hereford (details to the left). DJ support will be from the fabulous Steve 'Chalky' White, and the evening runs 7.30-11.00 pm (band onstage at 8.00 pm). Tickets cost just £6.00 in advance from the numbers/email at the top of the screen) or £10.00 on the door. Please check ticket availability before travelling, as there is a maximum capacity on the room.
The band will be playing a set specifically for jive and swing dancing, but if you're a jazz & blues fan rather than a dancer, you're also welcome to come along to listen and watch. Go to www.jbjazzandblues.co.uk to hear samples of their music.

Our next DJ Dance night is Sunday 10 October. Please come along, you'll be very welcome. DJ Steve will be providing the normal mix of great music for any jive and swing dancers out there (jive, lindy, balboa, etc), and as usual there's no need to worry if you're just a beginner or on your own ... you won't get left out. Sunday, 12 September - Jive 'Taster' Lesson & Dance

Our next regular DJ Dance night is on Sunday 12 September, at the Richmond Club in Hereford as usual(see details to the left).

As a special one-off treat (as it's the time of year when people are looking for new activities), we've invited a couple of local teachers to come and give a jive 'taster' lesson at the start of the evening. So if you're not sure what jive is, but fancy finding out, or if you know what it is and want to start learning, come along on 12 September. You'll be taught a couple of basic moves, and you can then stay on for the dance afterwards and put them into practice, and you can watch those that have had more experience really going for it .... see what you're aiming at. If you already jive, it's an opportunity to try some different moves or different teachers, if you want. Information about various local classes will be available.

The lesson is 7.15-8.00 pm, and the dance 8.00-11.00 pm. Come for the lesson, come for the dance, or come to both .... whatever you feel like, you'll be welcome. It costs £4.00 on the door for the whole evening ... what a bargain! Regulars can be assured that from 8.00 we'll have our normal selection of great dance tracks for you to dance to. We're a friendly lot so don't worry if you've no partner or are a beginner - it's a great place to learn.

Sunday, 1 August - next dance night

Just to remind everyone that our next dance night will be on Sunday 1 August. It'll be a DJ night with Steve 'Chalky' White once again doing his stuff to get us all twirling and jumping around the dance floor. As usual it's at the Richmond Club, details to the left, it runs 7.00-11.00 and is £4.00 on the door. DJ nights are now regularly attracting big crowds, with a really great atmosphere and they're a credit to the quality of music that Steve gives us ... so come along and join in!

Wow - what a fantastic night last night!

Thanks to the band 'Steady Edd & The Boogiemen', the DJ Steve 'Chalky' White and all the fantastic dancers who turned up at the Richmond Club last night. A near capacity crowd put on a great display of dancing, and the band clearly relished the chance to play for people who obviously wanted to dance. They turned out 2 tight, high energy sets of boogie-woogie, jump jive and rock & roll which really got everyone twirling and spinning around the floor. Hopefully we'll have a few pictures soon....and we'll definitely be having the band back!

Steady Ed & The Boogie Men - 4 July 2010

If you've not got your tickets for what promises to be a great gig by Ed and the boys, then I encourage you to hurry. Tickets in advance are incredibly good value at just £6.00 from Susan, Steve or Rob at the tel. nos. above or email herefordjive@btinternet.com. But of course you can also buy them on the door at £7.50.

Steady Ed & The Boogie Men play great jive, R&B and Rock & Roll, and create a great party atmosphere. They will be ably supported by DJ Steve 'Chalky' White playing his fantastic mix of great music.

The Gig starts at 7.30 pm and the band will be onstage at 8.00 pm, and the do will finish at 11.00 pm. As usual it's at the Richmond Club, Hereford - see left for details.

We really look forward to another great live band night, like our last one (see pictures left) ... so come along, and join in the fun.

Sunday, 16 May Dance Night

Our next DJ dance night will be this coming Sunday, 16 May. As usual it will run 7-11.00 pm, cost £4.00 on the door and be at the Richmond Club, Hereford ... see venue details to the left. Once again DJ Steve 'Chalky' White will provide a fantastic mix of jive, swing, lindy, rock & roll tracks for us all to dance to. We welcome any dancers, or anyone just wanting to listen to the music and watch. Near beginners and those without a partner are very welcome and won't get left out. Jiveoholics dance night a great success

Thanks to everyone who turned up for the our first live band night with the fantastic Jiveoholics. It was a great night, and the feedback we've had has been great .... fantastic atmosphere, venue, band and DJ music. Definitely a worth going to. And the place was almost to packed to capacity, so we managed to make a small profit ... which is a bonus, and we'll put that towards the next live band!

A photographer friend of Rob's came and took some fabulous pictures during the first part of the evening, see the samples above .... the full lot very soon (when I've worked out how to do it!) ... so you can see if you can spot yourself! If anyone wants high resolution versions emailing to them, email me.

Sorry not to have done this sooner ... not been very well for a couple of weeks ... but hopefully back on track now! Obviously done too much dancing!

The Jiveoholics playing for us on 18 April

It's time to get your tickets for what should be a fantastic evening with the wonderful Monmouth-based jive band 'The Jiveoholics'. As their own publicity says, they're '1 bus, 6 nutters, 5 instruments and a couple of chickens', and they do a great gig - the best of jump jive and r&b, and definitely all very danceable music. If you've not seen them, it's worth giving them a try, and if you don't dance you can just come and enjoy the music.


Support will be provided by our fabulous DJ 'Chalky' White, and the evening will start at 7.30 pm, with the band onstage at 8.00 pm. Kick-out time is 11.00 pm. Venue, as usual is the Richmond Club, details to the left.

Fantastic dance night on 7 March

What a fantastic atmosphere on 7 March. Over 50 people jiving to another great playlist from DJ 'Chalky'. Everyone just joining in and dancing with each other and having a great time. Roll on our next gig on 18 April!

2010 Dance nights in Hereford

We have 6 more dance nights booked so far (if they are well supported, we'll organise more). All are Sundays, with DJ nights starting at 7.00 pm and live band nights 7.30 pm (bands onstage 8.00 pm), with kick-out around 11.00 pm.

Dances are at the Richmond Club, 69-71 Edgar Street, Hereford, HR4 9JR (which is on the A49 just south of the football ground on the opposite side of the road).

The Club has a fantastic dance floor, a large seating area, a good bar (please don't bring your own drinks or we'll get shouted at!), and parking (overflow in football ground across the road).

All DJ dance nights are with the fabulous Steve 'Chalky' White providing 4 hours of fantastic jive, swing and rock & roll music. He will also be there on live band nights.
